2023 The Press Club and the Northern California Rosin Championship
Cannabis enthusiast and student of the art of solventless extraction
The Northern California Rosin Championship, or NCRC, is a competition by rosin makers for rosin makers. A select batch of hand-picked extractors wash and press the same material, with winners in multiple categories chosen by a panel of judges. And this year's event, the second annual NCRC, was one for the history books.
What an epic weekend getting together and celebrating with old and new friends in the community this year at the beautiful Yokayo Ranch in Ukiah, Mendocino County.
The Press Club was honored and stoked to be a part of this epic gathering, the first of its kind competition and a true skills competition.
The competition consists of two categories:
1. Fresh Frozen to Rosin
2. Clone to Rosin
All competitors were given identical fresh frozen material and clones supplied by NCRC to process and grow for the competition. After months of hard work, the final product was returned for a blind judging.
All of the entries were fantastic, and we got to sample dozens of truly phenomenal samples. Everyone brought their best work and it was very hard to know which ones to select as winners.
Shout out to the judges who had to make the very tough decisions! Judges included Byrd Extracts, Cherry Blossom Belle, Mendo Budsmith, Pez-Bro, and more.

A lot of competitors presented their entries in multiple consistencies in a single jar, such as layering fresh pressed with cold cure with jam on top. Needless to say this is not easy to pull off!
One of the entries we were most impressed with was from BigSu of SuMar Farms who presented the NCRC logo in a mold made with THCA. BigSu won the People's Choice Award with this:

It’s incredible to see the level of talent here and witness the rising tide lifting everyone up to higher levels. The quality is mind blowing and the constant innovation and improvement among hash makers and extractors is inspiring to say the least. We are honored to be a part of it!
