Rosin and hash are top tier solventless concentrates that consumers can enjoy in their most basic forms. But with additional processing, these cannabis extracts can also create many other exciting products. Rosin, the solventless dabs made from pressing loose resin, or hash, takes on a wide array of consistencies depending on how extractors process it following extraction. Likewise, the unadulterated trichome heads themselves, which hash makers collect using Ice Water Extraction, can form the basis of several cannabis creations.
Both rosin and hash are versatile enough to take on lots of different forms, shape shifting and morphing in ways limited only by an extractor’s creativity and the consumer’s demands.
Let’s take a look at a few of the most popular hash and rosin consistencies of 2023.
Hash rosin is rosin pressed from loose resin, or bubble hash. Extractors can cure hash rosin in a variety of ways that transform it, creating anything from jam to THCa.
Full Melt Bubble Hash
Full melt bubble hash is the highest quality hash in it's raw, unprocessed form. Full melt is loose resin, the trichome heads from the cannabis flowers, with virtually zero contamination. This loose resin melts completely on a hot nail.
Rosin carts are solventless vape cartridges that contain unadulterated hash rosin. These carts screw into a battery just like other 510-threaded cartridges, and make enjoying rosin easy and convenient.
Solventless creams are products that rub into the skin, absorbing into the body to provide topical relief. Creams can be ideal for relieving sore muscles, achy joints, or irritated skin.
THCa is the acid form of the THC molecule, which takes on a crystalline appearance in its isolated form. THCa is thought to be effective in reducing pain and inflammation.
Rosin jam is a rosin consistency that looks like a sugary, wet, chunky jam. Making rosin jam involves heat curing hash rosin in a sealed mason jar.
THCa with Rosin Jam
This is a combination of two consistencies, THCa and jam, or sauce. Extractors commonly shape the THCa in a round mold that looks like a lifesaver, then drizzle rosin sauce (which comes from the THCa extraction process) on top.
Rosin flan is a term credited to Blue River Terps, who came up with this process of deconstructing rosin using a mechanical process, then reconstructing it with a terp-rich blend.
Dry sift is a collection of loose resin that sometimes contains a higher percentage of plant contamination than other forms of solventless extracts. While not as high-quality as ice water hash, extractors can use it for pressing rosin or incorporating into other solventless products.
Traditional hash is trichome heads that are pressed together and stored for the long-term. One way to keep traditional hash for aging is to make a Temple Ball.
Piatella is a 6-star fresh frozen bubble hash that’s both washed and cured to preserve resin in a unique and truly special way. Piatella showcases the unadulterated magic of loose resin through a cold-curing process.
Rosin and bubble hash are coveted solventless extracts known for their quality, potency, and purity. They are also incredibly versatile in that extractors can process them into a variety of consistencies and multiple products. The options are only limited by extractors' and hash makers' creativity.
