This is a technique that's transforming how extractors dry and clean wet bubble hash: the Hash Vac system.

Familiar Equipment with a New Use Case

The Hash Vac isn't just another piece of equipment—it's a comprehensive approach to cleaning and drying hash that elevates the quality of your final product. At its core, the system uses vacuum suction and precision filtration to simultaneously dry and refine wet bubble hash immediately after ice water extraction.

The beauty of this technique lies in its simplicity. By creating controlled turbulence across a fine mesh screen, the Hash-Vac efficiently separates premium trichome heads from unwanted plant matter, stalks, and smaller particles, all while accelerating the drying process.

How It Works

The Hash-Vac creates a dual-action process:

1. Rapid Drying: High airflow across the hash accelerates water evaporation without damaging trichomes

2. Precision Cleaning: The vacuum suction pulls smaller particles, stalks, and contaminants through the sieve, leaving only the highest quality trichome heads on top

However, due to this kinetic energy, it’s important to operate in a very cold room! Otherwise, the rubbing together of the trichome heads might cause them to grease up. 

Building Your Hash Vac 

One of the most appealing aspects of the Hash Vac is that you can build it yourself with readily available components:

• Powerful wet/dry shop vacuum (5-6 HP) 
• Stainless steel sieve (45 or 70 micron) 
• Vacuum nozzle set up to move freely underneath the sieve 
• 530 nm LED strip lights 
• Collection basin for capturing filtered material 
• Connecting hoses
• Glass plate 

Optimizing Your Process

For best results:

Temperature Control: Operate in a cold room to prevent the resin from greasing up Airflow Adjustment: Add a blast gate or valve to fine-tune suction power 
Movement Pattern: Continuously sweep the nozzle back and forth under the hash Collection Management: The premium hash remains atop the sieve while small particles and stalks collect in the basin

You can enhance the system even more by optimizing the cyclone or Thien separator, which depends on airspeed and pressure drop. Having adjustable airflow allows you to dial in the perfect balance between drying speed and separation precision.

The Result Is Superior Hash

After running the Hash Vac, what remains on top of your sieve is nothing short of extraction gold—clean, dry, high-quality trichome heads free from contamination. The smaller particles and stalks that would otherwise compromise your final product are safely deposited in the collection basin or vacuum bag.
